I’ll eventually post more about both Cream and Living Colour (two of my all-time favorite bands) but in the meantime…
Jack Bruce, bassist for the legendary rock group Cream has joined forces with Vernon Reid, guitarist for Living Colour, along with John Medeski (of Medeski, Martin & Wood) on keyboards and Cindy Blackman Santana (Santana, Lenny Kravitz) on drums. The “merged” supergroup is known as Spectrum Road is scheduled to play the Bonnaroo Festival in a couple of weeks.

The group takes its name from a composition by the late Tony Williams, a phenomenal and influential drummer who first came to fame in Miles Davis’ group and went on to be one of the pioneers of jazz fusion. Jack Bruce played on the original recording so it’s definitely coming back full circle.
Check out this video from their February gig at The Blue Note in Tokyo. Awesome.

Cindy Blackman!!!! Man she is one tight drummer in sea of ships sailed by men. I keep hoping she’ll get together with Shelia E. and Evelyn Glennie to create something f#$k-classical album or something. Anything.
She sure is. I’m guessing she and Carlos have some great jams at the house!
